MOHI®
Eye Movements in Integrative Hypnosis
What is MOHI® Eye Movements in Integrative Hypnosis ?
The MOHI® therapeutic tool is a technique for the release of trauma and emotional wounds combining eye movements, neuro-linguistic programming, and hypnosis.
The eye movements provoked by the therapist in a safe environment will allow the patient to neutralize the emotions and sensations related to the traumas or wounds experienced and which have not been digested by the unconscious part of the mind in the past.
Thanks to the hypnotic state induced by the therapist and the eye movements performed, the emotions and sensations are discharged by the patient, which has the consequence of soothing and/or making the symptoms and the emotional responses experienced disappear.
What is the difference between MOHI® and EMDR ?
EMDR works on the moment in which the trauma or injury was created, by confronting the patient directly with it.
The MOHI® technique prefers to work in a more progressive way, starting from a neutral moment and then unwinding the chain of events until the moment of trauma, following and respecting the patient’s rhythm.
It also allows to set up resources in the patient, allow to achieve a goal or prepare for a future event.
Who is MOHI® for?
Since the purpose of this technique is to bring out emotions that can be very strong to neutralize them, it is more specifically meant for adults.
What are its applications ?
The applications of MOHI® are as follows:
- Trauma Release
- Emotions management
- Pain management
- Stress management
- Anxiety relief
- Resources installation
- Goal achievement
- Phobia release
- Behaviour modification
- Preparation for a future event
Are there any contraindications to MOHI® ?
There are indeed some contraindications to the use of MOHIs®.
If the patient is emotionally fragile or depressed, the emotional state should be stabilized beforehand. This can be done through one or more hypnosis sessions.
In addition, it is not recommended to use this technique with the following patients:
- Heart disorders
- Pregnant women
- Epileptics
- Eye problems (e.g. glaucoma or eye strain)
- Use of benzodiazepines
- Psychotic or dissociative disorders
A patient wearing glasses or contact lenses will need to remove them before an eye movement session.
How many sessions are needed to solve a problematic ?
The number of sessions may vary depending on the patient’s emotional state before and during the sessions as well as the intensity and depth of the problematic.
In any case, you need at least 4 sessions.
How does a MOHI® session work ?
During the first appointment, we explore with the patient what brings them here, discuss what they are currently experiencing and identify their needs and the desired objective. This is also the moment during which we present the method and how it works.
During the second appointment, we will set up the necessary resources for the following sessions.
During the next session(s) we move either to the neutralization phase, or to the establishment of the desired state or future projection according to the patient’s initial objective.
How often do the sessions take place ?
There is an interval of one to two weeks between the first appointment and the first MOHI® session.
Between the second appointment and the third, there is an interval of 3 to 4 weeks, to allow time for the resources to be integrated by the unconscious part of the mind.
Between the subsequent sessions, the interval will depend on the patient’s emotional state.
